Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) is pleased to announce changes in our leadership as we embark on a new chapter with the upcoming launch of our strategic plan for the next three years.

Mike Christensen has been appointed as Chair of the Board, effective 1 July 2024. Mike, who joined the Board in 2021, has chaired the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee and Property Committee. He brings extensive experience in finance, property, and governance, complemented by a genuine passion for community engagement. This leadership transition is timely as we have just approved a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at driving innovation, growth, and excellence in care and engagement.

Our outgoing Chair, Lawrie Hallinan, will remain on the Board. With our future direction clearly defined, the Board believes it is the ideal time to transition its leadership roles, aligning with good governance succession planning. We extend our deepest gratitude to Lawrie for his outstanding leadership and contributions over the past four years. Lawrie has played a pivotal role in strengthening Board governance, recruiting new Directors and a CEO, and guiding us through the challenges of the COVID pandemic and our 50^thAnniversary.

As we move forward with our strategic plan, we are confident that Mike’s leadership will help us achieve our goals and continue to enhance the care and support we provide to our residents and clients. Stay tuned for more updates as we implement our new strategic initiatives.
